What I Loved in January!

For the first time in a long time, I'm finding myself a little saddened to say goodbye to a month. January has been lovely to me for so many reasons that can't be put into words but for today, I'm going to be talking about the ones that can.

Blogging

I love blogging but this month in particular, I've really been enjoying it so much more! Work was quite stressful and blogging became sort of an escape for me. I've especially enjoyed blogging on my birthday week! You can read all the posts from there starting with my first post HERE! :)

Music

I enjoyed a lot of acoustics/slower songs this past month! Particularly, there's one song that's been stuck inside my head and it's 'Somewhere in Neverland (Acoustic)' by All Time Low! I've listened to it at least 50 times already and I'm still just as in love with it! A few other songs I've been loving are 'Honey and the Bee' by Owl City, 'Cactus in the Valley' by Lights ft. Owl City and 'I Miss You (Blink-182 cover) by 5 Seconds of Summer. They're perfect cuddle songs! ♡

Aside from all that, I've also fallen in love with the 1975! I've mentioned how obsessed I was with their song 'Chocolate' in one of my previous blog posts and I've been listening to their title album since then and it's incredible. I especially love listening to their songs on my drive back home from work (around 12am). The songs blend in perfectly with the street lights and the midnight sky.

Movies

My siblings and I have been doing 'movie night' mid-week for a bit of a pick me up. This past month we saw 'The Internship' and 'Safe Haven'. The Internship was hilarious and I loved it so much! It taught me that age doesn't need to stop you from reaching your dreams. Safe Haven was equally great and I particularly enjoyed the filming location. There's a canoe scene in the movie that's very reminiscent of the one in 'The Notebook' and I found that really interesting! It's a heart warming tale, as all Nicholas Sparks stories are, and Josh Duhamel plays the lead role so it's easily a must-see! ;)

Apps

I have a few apps I recently discovered and I know I'm going get a lot of use out of them so I wanted to share them with you guys! The first one that I'm most excited about is called 'Duolingo' . It allows you to learn a few different languages - for free! I'm currently trying to learn some French and I've really been enjoying doing that using this app!

Stars have always mesmerized me and I stumbled upon this app called 'Star Chart' and it's perfect if you love star gazing! If you live in the city, I know how hard it can be to see the stars but when you open this app, it acts like a virtual window to the universe. All you need to do is point your device to the sky, and it'll tell you exactly what you're looking at. It's crazy!

This last app I've already deleted from my phone but it was good to me so I thought I'd share it. I downloaded the '12 Days of Gifts' app sometime around the end of December and I got a gift every day for, you guessed it, 12 days. Some of the gifts were lame but for the most part, they were quite nice. My favorite gift was the movie Hugo! :)

Making salads

I experimented a lot with salads and dressings this month. I've settled with one I love and I hope to be sharing the recipe in a blog post soon! Here's a picture of what it looks like!

I especially love this salad because there's a ton of different textures and flavors and it really fills you up!

My Birthday 'Advent Calendar'

My little sister gave me the most creative and thoughtful birthday gift this year! She designed an advent calendar especially for me! She presented this to me in the beginning of the month and every day, I would open up a clue that led me to a gift. I mean, come on, getting a gift everyday? What more could you wish for!? So Sheila, if you're reading this, thank you! You're the sweetest little sister anyone could ever ask for!

Finally, I wanted to share a few pictures from my birthday! I had lunch with my family and chilled by the beach for most of the day. It was freezing but it was beautiful.

How was your January? I hope it was equally great, if not better! Share your favorite memories/things from last month in the comments below, I'd love to read them!

Kisses,

S
